ASTM A213 T22 seamless tubes are a type of steel pipe specifically designed for high-temperature applications in industrial settings. They are manufactured using a hot rolling or cold drawing process to create a hollow cylinder with no seams or welds, offering superior strength and consistency.
These tubes are made from a ferritic alloy steel, typically containing Chromium (Cr), Molybdenum (Mo), Carbon (C), Manganese (Mn), Phosphorus (P), Sulfur (S) and Silicon (Si). These elements are controlled to specific limits to achieve the desired properties.
Ability to withstand high temperatures, T22 tubes are used in various industrial applications, including boilers, superheater tubes, refineries, chemical plants, and other industries for transferring heat between fluids and also piping for high-temperature processes.
High-Temperature Performance: SA213 T22 tubes excel in applications requiring good strength and resistance to deformation at elevated temperatures. This makes them ideal for boiler tubes, superheaters, and heat exchangers in various industrial settings.
Good Weldability: These tubes can be welded using common welding techniques, simplifying fabrication processes during construction or installation.
Improved Corrosion Resistance: Compared to regular carbon steel, SA213 T22 offers some degree of corrosion resistance, particularly against oxidation at high temperatures. This can be beneficial in environments with moderate corrosion potential.
Because of the alloying elements and suitability for high-temperature applications, SA213 T22 tubes are generally more expensive than regular steel tubes. Not for Extremely Corrosive Environments: While offering some improvement, SA213 T22 is not ideal for highly corrosive environments like constant saltwater exposure. In such cases, other steel grades like stainless steel might be a better choice.
