Monel Flanges

Monel flanges are engineered to be strong and resistant to corrosion, and are made out of a high performance alloy of nickel-copper alloy to ensure reliability in harsh and demanding environments. These flanges are also used in the marine, oil and gas and chemical processing industries and are known to be of excellent mechanical strength, ductile and resistant to seawater, acid and chloride-stress cracking. Manufactured under the international specifications like ASTM B564 and ANSI B16.5, Monel flanges are available in various types, pressure classes, and sizes, ensuring dependable performance across a broad range of temperatures and critical piping applications.

Monel Flanges Grades

Solitaire Overseas has two distinguishable grades of Monel flanges namely Monel 400, and Monel K500. Although both grades are very desirable due to their excellent corrosion resistance, they can be distinguished by their unique mechanical characteristics and uses to be customized to suit specific performance requirements in different industries.

Monel 400 Flanges

The Monel 400 flanges are the best products to use in the marine and chemical processing systems because of their brilliant resistance against corrosion in salt, acid and alkaline environments. These flanges offer a compromise of relatively high strength and a good weldability. They are usually stipulated to be used in essential parts of a system like pumps, valves, piping systems, and heat exchangers where long term durability and highly dependable services are needed.

Monel K-500 Flanges

Monel K-500 flanges are Monel 400 flanges with much higher strength and hardness over which they combine the built-in corrosion resistance. This is attained by the process of age-hardening which is controlled. Such flanges are developed so as to ensure high mechanical integrity even when they are at cryogenic temperatures. Their improved qualities render them appropriate in challenging and high stresses such as marine propeller shafts, oil drills tools, and turbine blades whereby durability as well as dimensional stability is urgent.

Types of Monel Flanges

Solitaire Overseas offer a wide variety of Monel flanges that have been well made to sustain high-performance piping systems. All types of flanges are highly forged and come in many classes of pressure, including Class 150 through 2500, so that you will have no trouble meeting the requirements of both the international standards and the requirements of your application.

  • Weld Neck Flange (WNRF): This flange is designed to operate under high pressure and high temperature applications with heavy butt-welded joints minimizing the stress concentration and providing a secure and airtight seal.
  • Slip-On Flange (SORF): This is a flange that is made to be installed conveniently and economically in any lower-pressure system, and it is simple to install and align and minimal welding is required to fasten it to the pipe.
  • Blind Flange (BLRF): This type of flange used to end the terminus of a piping system or valve opening offers a sure and permanent seal, which would stop the flow of the media and allow the system to be extended in the future.
  • Socket Weld Flange (SWRF): Usable in high pressure pipelines with small diameter, this type of connection is compact, high and strong, used because it has a high fatigue strength and it has smooth bore.
  • Threaded Flange (THRF): This is a type of flange that gets screwed to the pipe and is therefore the best choice in the situations where weld cannot be done or it is not allowed. It provides a fast, safe fixing without thermal stress.
  • Lap Joint Flange (LJRF): It is usually used together with a stub end, which is an affordable option in cases when a system needs to be disassembled frequently to perform inspection or modifications. The flange is freely rotating making it easy to align the bolt holes.
  • Orifice Flange: This flange is specifically designed to measure the flow and as such, it has a series of bolts and jackscrews that allow the orifice plates to be fitted on the flange to measure the flow rate of liquids or gases.

Applications of Monel Flanges

Monel flanges are essential in environments where high-strength and superior corrosion resistance are required. We supply these components to a diverse range of sectors, including:

Industrial Applications
  • Chemical & Petrochemical: They are widely used to work with corrosive chemicals and high-pressure fluids.
  • Pharmaceutical: Suited to high levels of purity and lack of degradation under sanitary processing.
  • Power Generation: This is used in thermal and nuclear power plants where high temperature oxidation resistance and steam resistance are critical.
  • Engineering & Heavy Industry: Built in special industrial equipment and high-valued piping systems.
  • Marine & Offshore: Reliable in the seawater conditions, they are highly resistant to stress corrosion and erosion caused by chlorides.

Monel Flanges Quality Assurance

In order to achieve the requirements of the international safety and durability of all flanges, we develop a multi-layered quality control procedure:

  • Certification: Test Certificates are issued on all products according to EN 10204 / 3.1B.
  • Material Inspection: We present Detailed Raw Materials Certificate to ensure the quality of our nickel-copper alloys.
  • High-level Testing: A 100 per cent Radiography Test Report is done on every flange to identify any internal defects or anomalies.
  • Independent Validation: Based on this, we help in Third-Party Inspection Reporting to offer an impartial assurance of quality and compliance.
  • Traceability: The material traceability is full at all stages of the raw material till the final product, and there is transparency of all important installations.
