Copper Nickel 90/10 pipes (UNS C70600, ASTM B466 / ASME SB466, also called Kunifer 10 or Alloy 706) are 90% copper / 10% nickel alloy pipes valued for biofouling resistance and moderate-velocity seawater service. Available ½" to 6" OD, seamless, welded and ERW, they're the standard, lower-cost choice ahead of 70/30 wherever flow velocity doesn't demand the higher grade.
Solitaire Overseas is a trusted Cupro Nickel Pipes Supplier & Exporter. Our Cu-Ni 90/10 Pipe is a 90% copper, 10% nickel alloy that also contains small but significant additions of iron and manganese to improve overall strength and corrosion resistance. These Cupro Nickel 90 10 EFW Pipes are alloys that have reasonable power and thermal stability at high temperature levels. In clean natural salt water or in seawater chlorinated to levels sufficient to control biological metabolism, CuNi 90/10 is resistant to localized attack.
Due to its biofouling resistance, there are a limited number of possible sites for pitting attack, still in slow moving water; however, in polluted water containing hydrogen sulfide, pitting regularly takes place in the form of wide and low pits. The undercut type of pitting normally associated with stainless steel is not common for CuNi 90/10. For a comparison of grades, see our page on Cupro Nickel 70/30 Pipes Supplier & Exporter or read our blog on Copper Nickel Tubes & Pipes — Grades, Uses and Benefits.
Also known as Kunifer 10, Alloy 706, and CN102 across different regional standards all describe the same ASTM B466 UNS C70600 alloy.

Both grades resist seawater corrosion well; the choice comes down to flow velocity, service life, and budget:
| Factor | CuNi 90/10 (C70600) | CuNi 70/30 (C71500) |
|---|---|---|
| Seawater corrosion resistance | Excellent | Outstanding |
| High-velocity erosion resistance | Good — suits moderate flow | Excellent — suits high-velocity lines |
| Relative ex-works cost | Lower (less nickel content) | Higher |
| Typical duty | General seawater cooling, condensers, heat exchangers | Seawater injection, high-velocity offshore & naval lines |
As a rule of thumb: specify 90/10 for standard seawater cooling and condenser duty, and step up to 70/30 where flow velocity, design life, or your project spec (e.g. NORSOK, offshore injection lines) demands the extra erosion margin.

Export buyers typically need more than a packing slip. Here's what ships with your Cu-Ni 90/10 order on request:
Mechanical Testing such as Tensile of Area, Hardness Test, Chemical Analysis – Spectro Analysis, Positive Material Identification tests are conducted. Other tests include Micro and Macro Test, Intergranular Corrosion (IGC) Test, Flattening Test, Flaring Test, and Pitting Resistance Test.
We understand the importance of CuNi 90/10 Pipes packaging, especially during international shipments where the delivery has to pass through a number of channels to arrive at the final destination. We take proper care of packing. Usually pipes are packed in wooden cases/pallets and wrapped in environmental poly bags.
The UNS number is C70600. The grade is covered by ASTM B466 / ASME SB466 and is also known as CuNi 90/10 or cupro nickel 90/10. Werkstoff Nr. is 2.0872.
Copper nickel forms a thin, adherent, protective film in seawater that resists further corrosion, and the alloy has inherent biofouling resistance marine organisms struggle to attach to the surface. Combined with good weldability and stable mechanical properties at both elevated and cryogenic temperatures, this makes it the standard choice for seawater cooling lines, condensers, and marine piping where carbon or stainless steel would corrode or foul.
Choose 90/10 for standard seawater cooling, condensers, and heat exchangers at moderate flow velocities; it costs less than 70/30 for equivalent service life in these conditions. Step up to 70/30 where flow velocity is high (seawater injection lines, naval propulsion piping) or your project spec calls for the extra erosion-corrosion margin. See the comparison table above for a side-by-side.
Outside diameter ½" to 6", wall thickness 0.15 mm to 1.50 mm, in Schedules SCH20 through XXS. Seamless, welded, and ERW forms are stocked, with custom sizes, lengths, and finishes available against project requirements.
There's no fixed rate price that tracks the LME copper/nickel base metal price and moves with origin mill, temper (annealed vs. hard drawn), seamless vs. welded form, certification level, and order quantity. See “What Affects Copper Nickel 90/10 Pipe Pricing” above, or share your size, schedule and quantity for a firm quote.
Yes. Kunifer 10, Alloy 706, CN102, and UNS C70600 all refer to the same 90% copper / 10% nickel alloy covered by ASTM B466 / ASME SB466; the naming just varies by which regional standard or trade body you're referencing.
