Solitaire Overseas supplies A513 Type 5 Drawn Over Mandrel (DOM) Tubing. This DOM Steel Tube is made from high-quality C1020 carbon steel strip, which is shaped and electric resistance welded (ERW). After annealing to create a uniform grain structure, the tube is cold-drawn over a mandrel, offering several key benefits: uniform concentricity, improved ovality, closer tolerances, a denser surface, consistent wall thickness, and better overall strength. The cold drawing process ensures the weld area becomes strong and consistent with the base metal.
A513 Dom Tubing isn't a specific material but rather a manufacturing technique. This process starts with an ERW tube, which is cold-drawn over a die and mandrel. The die shapes the Outside Diameter (OD), while the mandrel determines the Inside Diameter (ID).

DOM Tubes can be made from mild steel or stainless steel, depending on the required properties for the application. The cold-drawing method enhances the surface finish, dimensional accuracy, and weld strength of the tubing. Mild steel DOM tubes are heat-treated after drawing to improve machinability and toughness.

Drawn Over Mandrel (DOM) Mechanical Tubing is a high-quality steel tube made from 1020/1026 grade material. It is created through a cold-drawing process, where the flash from the electric resistance welding is removed before drawing. Compared to standard welded tubing, DOM tubing offers much tighter tolerances for both outer diameter (OD) and inner diameter (ID), ensuring precision and consistency.
