Alloy steel tubes are hollow cylindrical products manufactured from steel that has been intentionally combined with one or more elements such as chromium, molybdenum, manganese, silicon, vanadium, or nickel to achieve mechanical and thermal performance characteristics beyond those of plain carbon steel. The alloying elements are added in controlled proportions, typically between 1% and 50% by weight, depending on the end application.
Alloy steel is categorised into two primary groups:
The versatility of alloy steel tubing makes it the material of choice in industries where plain carbon steel cannot meet operating conditions, including high-temperature power generation, chemical processing under aggressive media, and oil & gas extraction in corrosive environments. Compared to carbon steel, alloy steel tubes offer significantly higher creep resistance at elevated temperatures and better performance under cyclic stress critical factors in applications like boiler superheaters and steam headers.
As experienced alloy steel tube suppliers, we stock and supply alloy steel tubes across all major ASTM / ASME grades. Browse our individual grade pages for detailed specifications, pricing, and availability. Our full range also includes Alloy Steel Boiler Tubes and Alloy Steel Heat Exchanger Tubes.

An alloy steel tube is a hollow cylindrical section manufactured from steel combined with one or more alloying elements such as chromium, molybdenum, manganese, silicon, or vanadium in quantities typically between 1% and 50% by weight. These additions enhance specific mechanical properties such as tensile strength, hardness, toughness, corrosion resistance, and high-temperature stability beyond what plain carbon steel can achieve. They are used extensively in boilers, heat exchangers, power plants, oil & gas, and chemical processing applications.
Alloy steel tubes (ASTM A213/ASME SA213) are specified by outer diameter and wall thickness and are mainly used in heat exchangers, boilers and structural/mechanical applications. Alloy steel pipes (ASTM A335/ASME SA335) are specified by nominal pipe size and schedule and are used mainly in high-temperature pressure piping systems. Tubes generally carry tighter dimensional tolerances than pipes.
Our alloy steel seamless tubes are supplied to ASTM A213 / ASME SA213 (Cr-Mo grades T1 through T92), ASTM A335 / ASME SA335 (equivalent pipe grades), and ASTM A519 (AISI 4130/4140 mechanical tubing).
Seamless tubes are extruded or pierced from a solid billet with no weld seam, giving uniform mechanical properties and a higher pressure rating preferred for high-pressure, high-temperature, boiler and heat exchanger service. ERW/EFW tubes are rolled strip welded by electric resistance or fusion welding, offering a more economical option adequate for general fabrication and lower-pressure applications.
We supply T1, T2, T5, T9, T11, T12, T22, T23, T91 and T92 to ASTM A213/A335, plus AISI 4130 and 4140 mechanical tubing to ASTM A519.

Chromium improves oxidation and corrosion resistance, while molybdenum increases high-temperature strength and creep resistance. Together they allow Cr-Mo alloy tubes to maintain mechanical integrity under the sustained high temperature and cyclic stress found in boiler superheaters, reheaters and steam headers conditions plain carbon steel cannot reliably withstand.
Wall thickness ranges from 1 mm to 200 mm, across schedules SCH 20, 30, 40, STD, 60, 80, XS, 100, 120, 140, 160 and XXS, depending on grade and outer diameter.
